When we redesigned the Tech Hub workspace, we documented every design decision alongside the original architectural intent — not to replicate it, but to distinguish our vision from the builders who shaped that space in 1985. Modern architecture is not just renovation. It is a dialogue between eras, and every choice must be clear to the designer who follows us.

A material study from the Downtown Plaza revealed seven distinct construction phases, the earliest dating back to 1920. Each layer represents a decision — material selection, structural approach, environmental response. We read those decisions as guidelines. The 1920 architects left us a brief for the renovation. Our role is to interpret.

The modernist library on the coast holds decades of salt-worn concrete and weathered steel. City planners preparing the west wing for digital integration asked us to restore it. We refused. That weathering maps every storm, every season, every maintenance cycle since 1965. Remove it and you erase the building's history. We proposed preservation with integration instead.
